The Etiquette of Bridal Showers

The Etiquette of Bridal Showers and Shower Traditions:
I read this article in Martha Stewart Weddings and wanted to pass it on to my lovely viewers....

"The tradition of the groom showing up with flowers just before his fiancee opens the gifts is definitely back," says Weiss. Guests who haven't met the lucky guy before often look forward to this part of the shower for that very reason.

Rituals that have been passed down from older generations are still common. A popular one: making a bouquet out of the shower gifts' ribbons and bows and using it as a stand-in for the real one at the wedding rehearsal. (Tradition has it however many ribbons the bride breaks while opening presents determines how many children the couple will have.) Other old-school traditions, such as having something old, new, borrowed, and blue on hand, are still favorites of today's brides as well.

Creating a new tradition can add a layer of sentiment. Some ideas? Passing around photos from the shower of the mother-of-the bride, or taking a snapshot with multiple generations of women." Martha Stewart Weddings and Mindy Weiss

Note: A new tradition my girlfriends started was creating a scrapbook for the bride. Each guest at the shower fills out a page and writes warm wishes for the couple, or memories they have of the couple being together. It was one of the best gifts I have ever recieved and one I will cherish forever!

Sugar Soles!

I came across these sugar soles at Creme De La Creme bakery in Ft Worth, Texas. Creme de la Creme is doing our wedding cakes and they are divine! I went in today to schedule our next meeting (cake finalization) and stopped right in my tracks when I laid eyes on these fabulous mini Manolo Blahnik's and Christian Louboutin's. They looked almost too good to eat...almost being the key word!

These sugary gum paste shoes would be the perfect favor for a bridal shower, bridesmaid luncheon, or any occasion for that matter! Such a cute idea, what girl wouldn't love one of these stylish treats?

Creme De La Creme is one of the premier bakeries in the North Texas area and owner Jamie Holder is just as "sweet" as can be. Jamie and her staff go out of their way to make all your wildest cake dreams come true!

The Prepared Bride

I am going to give you bridal beauties a list of must haves come wedding weekend!

A girlfriend of mine got married last week and asked me to give her a list of things not to forget on her wedding day. Can you believe she forgot to buy her garter? Good thing she was able to take a deep breath, step back and check off one by one wedding day essentials.

For the Prepared Bride....

1. Don't forget your Wedding Dress when traveling to the venue.( An obvious)

2. Wedding Shoes and a back up comfy pair for pictures. You will be standing on your feet ALL DAY. You will thank me for this.

3. Proper under garments.....Panties, Bustier, and Garter. La Perla makes beautiful bridal undergarments!

4. Outfits for Bridal luncheon, Rehearsal dinner, Morning of wedding robe/sweat suit, and Wedding night lingerie.

5. Passport and packed suitcase for the honeymoon. This is a big one! You get so wrapped up in wedding day essentials....don't forget about the honeymoon!

6. Survival kit.....Sewing kit,Hair Spray, Bobby Pins, Earring Backs,Double-Sided Tape, Stain Remover,Breath Freshener, Deodorant Wipe, Tampon, Adhesive Bandages
